Q

Why is OceanSolution now being marketed in a concentrated liquid form instead of in crystals as discussed by Dr. Murray in “Sea Energy Agriculture”?

A

Dr. Murray began his “sea agriculture farm” using ocean water rather than crystals, but the original Gulf water used eventually became too toxic for growing vegetables and he discontinued it.  He researched and developed the use of crystals, but felt it lacked certain elements retained in the liquid version.  OceanSolution is the result of a perfected method for extracting seawater which supplies growers with the best blend of mineral nutrients to feed crops, and therefore the consumer of the crop in turn, i.e. the 90+ naturally ocurring and abundant elements.

Q

Should you add artificial NPK to your OceanSolution?.

A

Hybrid plants which need a high input regime many also need some artificial fertilizer, although the quantity - if any - is not yet known and subject to ongoing trials.  In the meantime you may want to continue using some artificial NPK.

While OceanSolution contains all the elements in the correct proportion for growth, it cannot make up for depletion following previous cropping regimes, and thus some supplementation may be required.

Open pollinated plants and seeds should not need any extra NPK as they are aligned with nature.  Hydroponically grown plants using the solution which taste stronger and last longer without added nutrients prove the solution is complete.

Q

How many gallons of OceanSolution should I apply to one acre of crop?

A

The first thing you need to do is establish the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) content of the water supply you propose to use.  For a meter to undertake this test, see the ‘order’ (hyperlink) page.  This will determine the quantity of OceanSolution that you can mix to each 110 litres of water, for covering one hectare.  This is also equivalent to 10 gallons/acre.  Then refer to the application chart which calculates the mix rate for OceanSolution

See the question below for information on overall use rates.

Q

Is there a limit to the amount that I can apply over a period of time?

A

Yes and no!  It is possible to overload the soil with the total ‘load’ of elements.  This can also be done with conventional fertilisers too, which are all electrically charged!  However this is very rare, and the converse situation is much more likely…….under supply of essential elements for health, vitality and yield.

Factors affecting this will include cropping, time of year, rainfall, stage of crop and density etc.  The most importantly factor will be the soil type and precious cropping and fertilisation history.

If this is the first, and maybe up to the 10th+ application, then the following test is  unlikely to be needed.  There are several reports of success from farmers who have used OceanSolution at 2 to 4 times the ‘normal’ rate, clearly allowing the soil and crops to benefit from the full menu, not the more normal incomplete one offered to most crops in most conventional situations.

Soil is like anything else, including our bodies.  Whilst it clearly will not operate optimally if not supplied with full nutritional needs, it function will also be impaired if overloaded.

All elements have an electrical charge and need particles in the soil to cling onto.  Once all the ‘hooks’ are used, they will simply wash through and leave an imbalanced supply. They will not erode in a similar proportion to match that found in the Solution.  Again, however, this is not likely to happen in most situations.

However, if using it regularly then it may be wise to use the following test.  The need will also be dependent on soils, season, crop etc, with some growers having successfully - and advantageously - used up to four times the recommended application rate.

So that you can be sure of the status of the soil, simply take a two measures of a representative sample from the top 6”, and place in a bucket.  To this add two identical measures of ‘de-ionised water’.  Using this source of water is critical as it will have nil ppm of elements.  Mix thoroughly, and then place the bucket on the ground and allow it to settle for a while.  Then, using the TDS meter (see order page) measure the TDS load of the liquid.  This shouldn’t read above 3500ppm.  If it does then you have enough elements for strong plant growth.  If not then you can safely apply another supply of OceanSolution.  Do not be alarmed if your soil result is low, perhaps even below 200 – as many will be.  There are few soils with a full load of elements and thus most are operating well below maximum potential.  If they are high, it could easily be that they are well stocked with just the few commonly applied elements, such as Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium, Sulphur and few others.  You will soon greatly benefit from adding the full range of 90+ and re-introducing balance into your soils and crops.

In a hydroponically grown crop we feed the roots with OceanSolution twice daily, or more often to suit your system, from seedling stage through to final crop.  The above residual testing is not applicable, as this method has instructions of its own.  For application guidelines please ring the office.

Q

Can I use Ocean Solution with any water supply or do I need special water?

A

A.  It is important that you measure the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in the water supply you intend to use. To obtain a meter to test it, go to the order page and purchase one.  They are not expensive for fulfilling this valuable function

Without this information you will not be able to get the mixing rate correct, and in some situations – especially hydroponic growing – this may lead to reducing the benefit derived in using OceanSolution

If you are intending to use OceanSolution in a commercial hydroponic situation, then the ideal is to acquire water that has been subjected to reverse osmosis (RO) to remove all the previous elements in it.  A proprietary version of this would be de-ionized water.  Then you will be able to mix at the full rate and gain the full advantage.

n.b. Where some users have to cut back the concentration to take account of the water’s natural, or added, elemental load, efficacy will be reduced.  Please be assured that borehole or other ‘natural’ sources of water many be free of the added chlorine or fluoride etc, as found in ‘mains’ supplies, but they will often have higher TDS readings than the ‘mains’ due to sand and other sedimentary deposits.  The latter will actually cause less problems but none the less need to be taken into account.

Q

How do you get the salt out of the OceanSolution?

A

Because our process is so precisely balanced and consistent it is not necessary. The sea salts in OceanSolution act in a synergistic and beneficial way with the other 90+ elements and natural bacteria in the Solution; they are an integral part of the total nutrition required for optimum plant health. Our process has been engineered and tested so as not to overdose on salt.

Q

Can seawater be used to grow any kind of plant life — won’t the salt in Ocean Solution hurt plants?

A

Our process is naturally balanced so that it will not hurt plants — unless it is applied excessively.  Ocean water, which contains all of the known elements, in their organic form, is not suitable for human consumption.  When these elements are extracted properly from ocean water, they are suitable, and ideal, for plant consumption. Plants add a carbon atom to the extracted organic elements to make them inorganic, which humans and all mammals are designed to absorb.  Mammals then detach the carbon atom, creating carbon dioxide in the process, reverting everything back to an organic form.

Dr. Maynard Murray stated that sodium in the organic form is “buffered” by surrounding elements in the plant.  As a practicing doctor of internal medicine, he allowed his heart patients to eat as much celery each day as they wished, knowing it to be high in sodium.  He realised that just one stick a day is all that the body requires to function properly, yet eating more was not a toxic scenario, the body dealing naturally with the natural excess.

Humans have yet to find a way to add the all important carbon atom to organic elements; we must still rely on living plants to do this for us.  Hence we do not gain as much benefit as we thinkfrom all the mineral supplements on which we spend a fortune annually.  We should be able to do this much better and more enjoyably with a properly balanced diet of food grown in Ocean Solution!

Q

I am on a salt restricted diet; will that affect whether I can eat food that has been grown with OceanSolution?

A

Salt that has been processed (like common table salt) is inorganic, and generally harmful to your body. However, salt that is processed through plants is not toxic or harmful, because plants convert inorganic salt to organic salts and their compounds. However, if in doubt, check with your doctor to obtain their opinion about this statement.

Q

How do you make OceanSolution?

A

This is proprietary and patented information. We can say that it is done without heat or chemical processing. No chelates are used.

Q

Can OceanSolution be safely used for foliar feeding?

A

Generally yes, however, delicate flowers like orchids should not be fed in this way.

Q

What is the shelf life of OceanSolution?

A

We believe that if left un-opened, it will be indefinite.  Long term stability testing to verify shelf life is ongoing, although so far no change has been observed in up to 2 years. We recommend storing the Solution in a cool, dry, covered area. Once opened it is suggested that the contents be used within 2 years.

Q

How do I purchase OceanSolution, and how much does it cost?

A

All sales are direct from Ocean Solution UK, and you can place an order for OceanSolution on our Order Page.  We despatch to all areas within the EU, using our contracted haulage company.  There is a separate dealer for Holland.  Please contact our office for details.

Q

I am on a salt restricted diet; will that affect whether I can eat food that has been grown with OceanSolution?

A

Salt that has been processed (like common table salt) is inorganic, and generally harmful to your body.  Equally a large intake of sea water can cause severe problems and in extreme cases, death.  This is because the body needs to eat food where the carbon atom has attached the elements to itself and this makes them bio-available to the consumer.  When salt has been processed through a plant, it is not toxic or harmful, because plants convert inorganic salt to organic salts and their compounds. However, if in doubt, check with your doctor to obtain their opinion about this statement.

Q

Is Ocean Solution usable by organic farmers?

A

Sadly, no!  At least, that appears to be the situation for now.  All organic crops are grown according to a set of Standards, embraced within the EU Regulation for Organic Farming, EU Directive 2092/91.  This is what is referred to as an ‘inclusive’ regulation, meaning that only products or substances specifically mentioned in the Regulation can be used.  Referral to seaweed is not the same as Sea Water!  To change the Regulation to enable use of OceanSolution involves a process that would take about two and half years, and require much lobbying and patience.  At present we have no plans of our own to engage in this process, thus meaning that the gains for users will all be in the conventional areas of production or recreational use.
